Wind whipping like a tornado
All is still in the valley below
Cuts through you like a torpedo
Claims its territory above the snow
And all of these little ions
Attaching themselves to our clothes and our hair
Shocking us with their phenomenon
Making us all to aware
That the summer is just a flash
In the cruel pan of time
And the moment we start to relax
The whole world realigns.
And the brutal beauty of winter
So wild, so fierce, so pure
So deadly and unforgiving
Like some jealous god of yore
Is nothing compared to Orion
What a glorious sight to behold
Shining above the mountain
Like a beacon of hope...

I heard the music through the door
While I was sleeping on the floor.
Said, “I don’t want to sing no more
It always end up like before.”
I heard the band begin to play
I felt it hit me in the face.
I felt the chain begin to break
When I heard the tambourine shake.
Here we go again
Oh, my truest friend
Oh, we wrestle around
Up and then back down
Right through my thick head
Right in my little bed
Here we go again, it’s you and me again.
I saw the light shine through the cracks
I look away; I turn my back
Always the first one to run.
So scared of what I may become.
But you don’t care about all that.
I guess you’ve always had my back.
I get swallowed by a Star
You pulled me in so far...
Here we go again
Oh, my truest friend
Oh, we dance around
Up and then back down
Right through my thick head
Right in my little bed.
Here we go again.
It’s you and me again.
You hit me where it hurts so bad
You’re my balm of Gilead
You flow like warm honey
You flow down all over me
Crazy how you soothe my soul
Let it rock, let it roll.
Here we go again
Oh, my truest friend
Oh, we wrestle around
Up and then back down
Right through my thick head
Right in my little bed.
Here we go again
It’s you and me again.

I know that old house like the back of my hand
Full of stories only you understand.
And it calls to me, just like the moon
Says, “come home little girl, come soon”
I know every shadow, every corner, every door
Every cracked window, every creak in the floor.
I used to sleep in the tiniest room
Looking up and wishing I was the moon.
All of the pain, all of the suffering
All the tears I ran so far to un-do
I’m finding that now it’s all coming back around
And all the love in my heart, I owe to you.

I found an old grouse feather
Stuck it in my favorite hat
Wear it in rainy weather
Now I don’t feel half bad.
I’ve got my favorite record
Been playing it on repeat.
I’m having a party
I, myself, and me.
This works is crazy
But it’s nice here in my fort.
My time is currency
And there’s just shit I can’t afford.
I’ve got some liquid sunshine
Gonna play this guitar for free
I’m having a party
I, myself, and me
Done might call me a loner
Done might call me an introvert
‘Cos I said no to the gallery
And I’d rather sit here in the dirt.
I built myself a fire
It’s burning steady with a cracklin heat
I’m having a party
I, myself, and me.
Pull up to the table
If you think you know where I’m from
I’ve got a whole lot of sweetness
And I’ll stick it smack dab in your tongue.
Has the world got you down now?
I think I know just what you need.
We’re having a party
Us, ourselves, and we.

Lately I’ve been wishing for a blank slate
Lately I’ve been dreaming all my days away.
Lately I’ve been kicking at the gravel
Got a funny feeling like I’m stuck on replay
I planted a garden and I watched it grow
Piece by piece, leaf by leaf
Coming up slow
And now it’s winter and I’m still here
And I don’t know what for.
Lately I’ve been wishing for a new sky
Wondering if maybe I should un-tie my heart.
Baby, hold me down because I’m floating
I can’t touch the ground
And I can see it’s getting dark.
I planted a garden
And I watched it grow.
Piece by piece, leaf by leaf
Coming up slow
Now it’s winter and I’m still here
And I don’t know what for.
Lately I’m tired of meditating
Sitting around while the light is fading fast.
There’s a time to be and a time to do, my love
I have enough fire for the both of us, I guess
I planted a garden and I watched it grow.
Piece by piece, leaf by leaf
Coming up slow.
Now it’s winter and I’m still here
And I don’t know what for.
